And they all ruined it for me at the time. LOL, yeah, I agree with all your criticisms. (Ok, Snow eventually became awesome in the sequels, and Hope and Vanille became.eh.less insufferable) Mediocre plot that's mostly incomprehensible? (Would it be FF without that?) Because as-is it looks like DMC, Witcher 3, and the story of Triangle Strategy had offspring. hopefully the trailers just don't represent the game well. But then again neither does VII and everybody loves that one. The game is fine, it's the story that makes no sense, ever. It's incredibly unique, and while it's not exactly FF, it's also something that couldn't not be FF. It was shocking it was so different when it came out, I hated it, but in hindsight it still has a lot of the FF classic feel. Maybe it'll turn out ok, but so far this seems like a cool new Western take on the Platinum/Capcom action genre rather than a new mainline FF Which is what Stranger was supposed to be a spin-off I've grown to actually like XIII.

If it were a new IP I'd be excited, but as a mainline FF, I'm scratching my head even more than the boyband announcements for XV. It strikes me as the FF game Ninja Theory might make. Is FF now a 3rd person action adventure/action-combo-fighting genre, and not an RPG? The story direction does have some minor FF XII vibes, but really for the wrong reasons. Nothing about the trailer looks like it's a trailer for an FF game to me. I'm more worried about it than I was before. It also situates the gay man and his predicament in a much-too complicated Anglo-Indian family, which has an absconding father (Kabir Bedi), a still-youthful mother (Zeenat Aman in a comeback role which gets her to declaim rather than act most of the time) who submits to her lecherous boss because she wants the extras-not for herself, but for her family, which is acknowledged by her cantankerous ma-in-law (Helen) at a crucial moment.I'm surprised how positive fan response is. Scared of putting off viewers, it balances the guy thing with a gal thing: the neglected wife is made to have a fling with the gay husband's younger brother who has the hots for her. stops well short of being a desi My Beautiful Laundrette or Brokeback Mountain because it doesn't go the mile.

Not just in the way the men show skin and suck lip, but in the feelings they share: these are people who want to live together, not just have illicit sex. tries to take it further than just a furtive liason is in the way it shows the relationship between the two men: the married man nearly reaches the point of breaking off with his wife, but his lover refuses to let him.įor a Hindi movie, this is way beyond anything that's been shown in the homosexual range till now. He gets into an affair with an aspiring model-cum-actor who is "auditioning" ( Bollywood euphemism for "sleeping with") around town. Till the interval, in fact, when we discover that a husband who neglects the woman he's married to, is into men. It takes a long time to get to the point. This is the statement of a fact that can bear repeating in mainstream cinema, but not in the way Dunno Y. Every time something real struggles to come up, it is buried quickly under amateurish acting, or over-written plot points. Na Jaane Kyon turns out to be: a good idea wrapped, and nearly hidden, in clunky execution. The title should have been a dead giveaway of the kind of film Dunno Y. Cast:Aryan Vaid, Kapil Sharma, Maradona Rebello, Hazel, Zeenat Aman, Helen, Rituparna Sengupta
